History of the château
Like the castle of Sleeping Beauty, Château de Canac desperately wanted to come alive again.
In the heart of a park with century-old trees, a château emerges which was built during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Towers and coats of arms, monumental fireplaces and original frameworks, stucco and French ceilings…: Château de Canac has preserved its character and identity inherited from the past centuries.
During these centuries this former tenant farmhouse has welcomed several generations of wealthy families.
François I, son of Charles d’Angoulême and Louise de Savoie, King of France, was received on 24 July 1533 by the consuls of Rodez at the farmhouse of Canac, the future Château de Canac.
« They met the King in front of the farmhouse of Canac. »
The rooms of the château have names like Eugénie or Marie Antoinette and their decoration has also been imagined in line with the spirit of the property.
Successful preservation due to the investment and the passion for the heritage of the past which has been driving the Busset Family, the owners of the place since 2014. Hervé and Dominique Busset fell in love with this mansion with red sandstone walls and carried out the first part of the works during the past two years. This required a lot of time and energy but it is a “wonderful story” that the Busset family is happy to share with you.
You can now benefit from a stay in a château in the Aveyron region.
