Description

Secret Organic Vineyards of Nice eBike Tour: 5-6hrs, 75€

Of the 4 million tourists that come to Nice every year, few know that Nice has its own vineyards that produce high-quality AOC stamped wine. Let us take you off the tourist trail and help you to discover Nice’s best kept secret on this bike tour to our favourite Bellet vineyard. Note that this is an authentic “dirt-under-the-fingernails” working vineyard that was not made for commercial tourism!

You will meet the passionate winemaker, who walks you through his lovingly cared for vines. He’ll then explain the organic wine making process, and what makes Bellet wine so special. Sample his wines and finish up with a picnic lunch in an idyllic setting under an olive tree.

Thanks to our eBikes that are as easy to ride as a normal bicycle but give you assistance up the hills, the tour is suitable for active adults and children 15 years or above. We’ve ensured the itinerary is safe, and most of the route is on quiet roads with little traffic.

What you will see on the half day Secret Vineyards of Nice eBike Tour

Gorgeous sea and mountain views
Starting on the cycle path of the Promenade des Anglais, we bask in the sun along this historic seafront boardwalk. Once on the hill climb, the zig-zagging quiet back roads give us views of the turquoise blue sea in one direction and splendid mountains in the other. Thanks to the eBikes, we have an easy, relaxing 1½ hour ride to the vineyard.

Walk through the vines
The winemaker gives us insight into the complex art of managing the vines, from pruning to harvesting. The winemaker shares his know-how gained from decades of experience and explains his intimate relationship with each wine stock.

Inside the wine cellar
We get full access to the inner sanctuary, a privilege rarely enjoyed at other vineyards. Guests tend to say this is the highlight of the tour. We understand wine making is part science, part art. Depending on the time of visit, we may even get to sample partially completed wine directly from the vats!

Sample the wines
At the end of the visit to the vineyards, we will sample and savour the three wines produced here – red, rosé and white. This is where we fully understand the meaning of the French AOC concept (Appellation d’Origin Controlée) and the uniqueness of the two grape varieties that originate here – the Braquet and the Folle Noire.
